The State Theatre Center for the Arts Freddy AwardsMaking its debut on May 23, 2003, the Freddy© Awards were created as a three-hour, live television program showcasing the talents of local high school performers. Produced by the State Theatre Center for the Arts, a performing arts center in Easton, PA, and local television station WFMZ Channel 69, the program brings together about 2,500 students from Lehigh and Northampton Counties in PA, and Warren County, NJ. The broadcast, viewed by hundreds of thousands of people each year, showcases pieces from local high school productions and rewards student thespians for their outstanding work in 21 categories. The broadcast has been honored with a number of awards, including a 2005 EMMY Award for Outstanding Performing Arts Program, 2 additional EMMY Nominations, 6 Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Awards, and 2 Associated Press Award for Public Affairs. Additionally, the 2008 Freddy© program is the center of a feature-length film documentary, Most Valuable Players, by Canyon Back Films, Los Angeles. The film is expected to be released in 2010.

The 2010 Freddy© Awards aired live at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010. It was broadcast on local channel WFMZ Channel 69 and streamed live at www.wfmz.com
